How long do you play for?It depends on how long you want us to play for! For gigs like private parties, music venue performances or weddings, we usually play for 2 x 45 minute sets with a 30 minute break in the middle, and we don't play for less than 60 minutes when using our own PA. We don't play for longer than 180 minutes per show. For festivals and multiple act performances where we don't provide the PA, we can play for any length of time you want to pay us for!
-
Can we ask you what to play?If it's for a private event, we are more than happy to discuss the set list with you. We can learn additional songs that we don't already play, but that comes with an extra charge. If it's for a public appearance, we're also happy to discuss this with you, but we do put a lot of effort into designing our sets so that they work well and enhance our events as best as possible.
-
Will you travel to perform for us?Yes - we're more than happy to travel for your event. Local gigs get the best deals because travel costs are low, and this is something to take into account when you are booking a live music act - the further the event is, the more travel costs will accrue.
-
Can you perform as a smaller line up?We can perform as a 7-piece rather than an 8-piece if space constraints demand it, but we really prefer not to. Our repertoire is designed and rehearsed around the full line up, so working with any less members will limit what we can play and you won't get the best experience we could give you.
-
Who provides your PA?dB Acoustics, Coventry. You can see what they do here: Event Production | DB Acoustics | Coventry (db-acoustics.co.uk)
-
Do you need to have PA?Yes - without PA you won't be able to hear us! PA covers all the equipment at the front so that you can hear us, all the equipment that means we can hear ourselves on stage, every microphone and every stand. Without it, we can't perform.
-
Can you use our PA?Yes - as long as the technical specifications match what we need to perform with and as long as we provide a sound engineer, or you provide an experienced sound engineer to mix us.
-
Do you need to have a sound engineer?Yes - the sound engineer brings all of the equipment and produces the live sound so that it sounds wonderful out the front. They also put up with all of our weird hand signals indicating when we need something louder or quieter so that the performance runs smoothly and professionally.
-
How long does it take you to set up?We ask for a minimum of 2.5 hours for the PA to load in and set up, the band to load in and set up and then to sound check.
-
Do you need a sound check?Yes. The sound check ensures we can hear ourselves and all the levels are mixed right for the performance.
-
Do you need a deposit?Sometimes. For weddings and private events, we ask for a small deposit to secure the booking. For venue events and festivals, we don't. This is because if this type of gig is cancelled within a reasonable amount of time, the venue can often reschedule, whereas as private events and weddings often aren't!
-
Can we pay in instalments?Yes! We're more than happy to arrange payment schedules if that would be easier for you.
-
How do you work out your quotes? There are 3 elements to our quotation: Performance Fee - Price dependent on length of performance* PA/Sound engineer Fee - This is what it will cost us to hire PA and sound engineer third-party. Expenses Fee - This can include travel costs, accommodation, refreshments etc.
