If you do anything today, you need to get on your phone, your laptop, whatever technology you use to find the outside world and get BIG SHIP ALLIANCE into your life!
We had a rare night out on Thursday night to The Hare and Hounds in Kings Heath. We are so glad that we did. Personally, I am still absolutely buzzing from Thursday night.
So let me tell you about Big Ship Alliance...
A Polished Performance
This band has worked hard at making their performance slick, tight and smooth and it really shows. The show is so well put together. The commentary in between the tunes is appropriate and leading, giving the audience a guided tour of the set that adds so much to the performance. It is honestly one of the best examples I've ever seen of presentation and narration. Short and concise, the commentary keeps the excitement right up there, and the audience jumps on board The Big Ship for the evening for that guided tour.
The Captain Asha B
A well-respected member of Birmingham's Reggae Music community, Asha's fronting skills are at the forefront of the Big Ship experience. He has such an endearing and engaging personality that you can't help but stay focused on what he's going to do next. You can see why they call him 'Di Captain' - and what a Captain he is! His personality and character keep the audience engaged with the band throughout the show and you can see his love for the music in his vocals as well as other aspects of his performance. He's energetic, exciting and genuine, giving that authentic reggae feeling throughout the entire show.
Not only do Big Ship Alliance have an extremely charismatic front-man, but the band is packed full of top quality musicians, and the show itself is full of interesting features that keep the high energy and vibes rolling. Their musical talent is right up there. Different band members feature on vocals at different times, bringing unexpected highlights to centre stage that just keep that vibe uplifted and lasting.
The Queen, Ebony
I am fully going to admit that I had a bit of a fan-girl moment when watching Ebony. Lady Bass is possibly the coolest and nicest person I've come across in a long time. Perfect bass playing, charismatic on-stage personality, and a lovely person to meet and talk to, to boot! Obviously The Reggulites girls were giving the biggest praise. She definitely is the coolest person and drew so much attention from the crowd. There aren't enough ladies on instruments - it's been said before and I'm saying it again. As well as contributing all of that whilst within the band, she also films and produces the band's videos. Amaze.
General Joel
This is one of the best-hearted people we've come across in recent years, and his skills on guitar are exhilarating! Joel is the smarts behind Big Ship's website as well as being a top quality guitar player. His personality just adds to the whole nice vibe of the Big Ship experience. Honestly, they just draw you into a better world. We want to personally thank Joel for supporting Reggulites and being so lovely about us, as well.
His solos were (excuse the pun) electric in every sense and the whole audience was just buzzing during the times he featured. Not to mention the extremely humble smile we got when he finished. Love you, man!
I'm not sure of everyone's names, and that says more about me than it does these talented musicians, trust me on that! Individually, the beautiful lady on backing vocals was a blessing, the gentleman on percussion who also featured on vocals had the highest stage energy, the gentleman on the keys who also sang was absolutely the coolest and most fun, Izzy was amazing on keys, but we knew that already and the drums were (a real Brummie accented) TOIGHT! More of all of that, please!
Needless to say, we had the best evening at The Hare and Hounds, and will definitely be returning for some more uplifting vibes and top quality music. We want to encourage you, if you don't know Big Ship Alliance, you need to know them, so please go and check them out, like, subscribe, enjoy! You will not be disappointed.
I would say the overriding feeling I got from my journey on the Big Ship is one of happiness. From start to finish, they had me, and that's music - it's reggae music and it's Birmingham music! So from one Birmingham Reggae band to another, see you on the next cruise, guys!
