Kaion & Harriett: A Modern and Vibrant Summer Night

What an incredible wedding! This wedding was on a Thursday, and it was a scorcher. Think sunshine, big lush plants, seriously cool people and a lot of sweat.

We initially received the enquiry for this wedding and weren't able to do it, but luckily for us, the groom got back in touch as they hadn't found anyone else they liked as much (blush) and we could make it happen, so we did!

Kaion was seriously the most efficient person. We literally sorted everything out in a matter of weeks, and there wasn't a bump in the road.

There was something extremely exciting for us going to Glen Lodge, which was the debut journey in our new Reggu-wagon! We bought a big ole car with all the seats so that we can go a little further a little easier, and it was the most wonderful journey over, even though there was so much traffic and it was quite a mission. Glen Lodge is in Northwich, so it was a fairly lengthy ride but we had lots of fun and it was really comfortable.

We arrived at Glen Lodge and found Grandad and Will in the club house next to the wedding venue, where we were very nicely treated to dinner. Not long afterwards we found the drummer out in the golf course, and then Teebs arrived to his first gig back (we were so pleased to see him) and Angus arrived around the same time. Paul was part of the Reggu-wagon crew.

We had a few delays with the speeches, which is totally normal - they always take much longer than anticipated! Keeley the wedding coordinator kept us in the loop and we discussed our options and worked around it, so it was fine. We loaded in and set up eventually, and we were only running around 30 mins behind in the end, which is all down to the hard work of Grandad and Will and an incredibly sweaty set up!

Kaion was one of our first wedding customers to use our new named sets for his set list selection. He did something very interesting that's given us a lot of food for thought - he chose the more upbeat dancing set for the first half, which worked really well because everyone was seriously up for a party with the amazing DJ set that preceded it. The more relaxed and traditional "3 B's" set in the second half worked really well because some people were flagging a bit and some were saying their goodbye's and getting ready to leave, so it was a brilliant line up to suit the crowd. I'm thinking we might suggest that in the future for other couples because it was a stroke of genius!

We did intend to go all the way through, but it was so hot that after what would have been the end of the first set, and playing Hot Hot Hot, most of the band looked like they were about to pass out so we had 10 minutes to catch some fresh air outside. We'd told the lovely DJ we would go all the way through, but he was straight back on without a blink, which was seamlessly professional and we were mega impressed! Lovely guy, as well. We got chatting afterwards and he's incredibly musical!

We had a wonderful night and we were so pleased to bring what we were able to, to Kaion and Harriett's special day, especially considering it might never have happened!

It was extremely early hours by the time we got home. Almost everyone went to sleep apart from Sugar, who was driving last on the journey, and myself who gets car anxiety! Anna had been awake since 6am for some ungodly reason, so she went straight to sleep when she got in, and I totally intended to have a coffee and go to bed, but to be honest I really needed a shower, so it was broad daylight by the time I went to sleep.

But it was totally worth it - life as a musician is incredible.

A huge thank you to Kaion, Harriett, the DJ and all the staff at Glen Lodge for a wonderful experience and for being so welcoming.
