Here at Reggulites HQ, we've been thinking long and hard about how to streamline song selection whilst keeping the customisation of our wedding packages. So we've put our heads together and created a selection of named set lists for wedding couples to choose from.
The Power of Personalisation
Curating the music for the evening of your wedding can really create memories and ensure a certain vibe for you and your guests. With the set lists we've created, you can rest assured that the vibe you're after will come to pass.
Learning from Experience
From our wedding experience, we've discovered that although couples are interested in certain individual songs, more often they are looking for a certain atmosphere or style. It can be overwhelming asking your choice out of our entire repertoire, and consistently the same songs come up together. So, being a bit smart and collating the data, we've created these playlists for you to pick from!
Curating the Ultimate Wedding Set List
Think about how you and your guests will be feeling by the time you get to the evening: do you have loads of people who really like to party, or do you think everyone would love to get a little sentimental with you? Do you want to start heavy and get a little easier as the night goes on and people start flagging and leaving? I'm sure you know exactly who will be the first ones up to dance, so you can use that to base your choices on.
Are you having a first dance? More and more couples are going against this tradition, or leaving it more casual so that they dance but so does everyone else - it certainly takes the pressure off!
Sharing the Love for Music
Couples often share with us how special the moments were made by particular song choices, and how the vibe of the wedding was guided by the style of music that we play. It's your opportunity to make something really special happen!
The Names
We really enjoyed putting the sets together! You can download them from our wedding page.
We named them for their style so you can easily choose your vibe:
Something Old - The traditional or classics set.
This is the stuff that even the reggae unfamiliar's will know. It includes classics like 'Harder they Come' by Jimmy Cliff and 'Everything I Own' by Ken Boothe.
Something New - The Dancing Set.
This is the perfect set to fill the dance floor and includes tunes like 'Shine' by ASWAD and our Dancehall Medley - a selection of songs all blended together to highlight the best in popular dancehall reggae music.
Something Borrowed - and by borrowed, we mean a touch of Ska with some complimentary lively tunes to accompany them. This set includes songs like the famous 54-46 by Toots and the Maytals and 'Israelites' by Desmond Dekker. They're extremely well known and will get even the anti-reggae guest tapping their feet and nodding their head.
Something Blue - The Romantic Set. Full of all those love songs you can celebrate your feelings with. Heavily featuring the new master of Lover's music, Tarrus Riley, this set includes songs like 'She's Royal', 'Lady' by Wayne Wade and 'Missing You' by Sanchez. It's all about the love in this one!
Something Different - well, that's us. We've subtitled this set 'The Real Reggulites set' for a reason. It's got all the choices of songs that will bring something a little more interesting and unusual to your day. Songs like 'Johnny B Goode' by Pete Tosh, The Barrington Medley (that actually finishes with a Dennis Brown tune) and 'Soldiers' by Steel Pulse are a real reflection of what we're about, and keep the crowd guessing.
My Fair Lady - if you're a groom in charge of sorting the music out, why not throw in a whole set to celebrate your special lady. Or, even better, if you're two ladies tying the knot, celebrate everything divine feminine with this set. It includes songs written with a special lady in mind, like Tarrus Riley's 'Superman', as well as songs by incredible female artists like Dawn Penn, Marcia Griffiths and Fabian.
Out With A Bang - The Absolute Bangers set. Here at The Reggulites, we're very much about the absolute bangers. We've compiled this set to feature all those tunes that make you rush up to the dancefloor, or turn to your friend and say 'No way!'. This set includes big tunes that bang, like 'Who Knows' by Chronixx and our mashup of Zap Pow's 'Last War' and 'Come Around' by Collie Buddz.
Rebelution - The Roots set. Are you serious reggae lovers? Do you love all the deep, conscious vibes of the roots scene? You might consider this set to be your favourite, as it includes heavy-hitters like 'Promised Land' by Dennis Brown, 'War inna Babylon' by Max Romeo and 'Border' by Gregory Isaacs.
Round The Campfire - the relaxed set gives the opportunity for some easy listening and chill out music for you and your guests to unwind with, including gorgeous arrangements of Gregory Isaacs 'Night Nurse' with just vocals (with incredible harmonies) and guitar, and our rendition of Bob Marley's 'Redemption Song' in a slow and soulful piano and vocal feature.
The 3 B's - This set brings out the big guns of reggae with Bob Marley, Beres Hammond and Dennis Brown, blended together to create a varied and beautiful playlist of songs. This is the set that features the most Bob Marley tunes, which you can't ever go wrong with, such as 'Wait in Vain' and 'Natural Mystic', alongside Beres tunes like 'Rockaway' and Dennis Brown tunes like Love Has Found It's Way' (which doubles really well as a first dance option).
Unity - the final choice in our curated set lists includes well known songs that the audience will be able to join in with and maybe even feature on! Our front man, Sugar, is the master of crowd engagement, and this set warms up your guests before moving on to full on singing on the mic. It includes well-known tunes such as '3 little birds' and 'Tenement Yard', 'Hotel California' inna reggae style and 'Hot Hot Hot', the soca hit by Arrow. This set will keep your guests dancing in formation and singing along throughout.
Conclusion
Whatever you choose for your wedding will create incredible memories, and with these set list choices, you can really curate the atmosphere that our performance makes for you and your guests.
